Welcome to Pioneers Class!

Class teacher: Miss Leslie
Class Teaching Assistant: Mrs Jenvey
Learning Support Assistant: Mrs McDougal

We are the Year 5 and Year 6 class. In Pioneers Class, we create a caring and safe environment. The children are always engaged and love to be challenged with their learning. We work hard to develop the children’s independence by allowing them to make decisions and choices for themselves.

We arrange fun and varied trips. In the past the children have seen a Horrible History play in Portsmouth, travelled to London to see a World War 2 museum, taken part in a planetarium session in Winchester and have benefited from sporting opportunities at local high schools.

We have also taken the Year 6 pupils to the mainland on their residential to Fairthorne Manor. The children learnt how to live away from home, made new friends and experienced new activities such as sailing, climbing and archery. They had a wonderful trip and the teaching staff loved seeing them develop and grow as the week went on.

We work closely with the local high schools to ensure that the children have a positive approach and a smooth transition to the next part of their learning journey.
