Message from the Headteacher
My name is Mr Carl Wake and I am delighted to be the Head teacher of St Helens Primary School.
I joined the school in April 2018 on a temporary basis when the position became vacant due to the retirement of the long serving head. After a few weeks, I realised I had found the perfect school and have not looked back since.
The school has many strengths and our values: creativity, determination, excellence, respect, responsibility and tolerance, are always evident and fully supported by all members of our school community.
Message from the Chair of Governors
At the September 2020 meeting of the school’s governing body I was re-elected as the board’s chairperson. I have been part of the governing body since January 2015 when I was appointed as a Co-opted governor.
My previous background included working for 15 years as a headteacher and for 3 years as a School Improvement Manager – all on the Isle of Wight
Having spent my whole career in education I felt that, in retirement, it was opportune to give something back to schools. It is therefore with great pride that I am able to offer support and challenge to the school and the community in which my wife and I reside.
As an effective governing body we look to maximise the potential of every child and provide a safe and caring environment.
