Message from the Headteacher
My name is Mr Carl Wake and I am delighted to be the Headteacher of St Helens Primary School.
St Helens is a small village primary school with a strong family ethos. The school was built in 1972 on the current site as a half-form entry school, and has become a focal point in our community. Many of our pupils live in the village, but we do attract families from out of the area who seek a happy school with a family atmosphere for their children.
Message from the Chair of Governors
At the September 2020 meeting of the school’s governing body I was re-elected as the board’s chairperson. I have been part of the governing body since January 2015 when I was appointed as a Co-opted governor.
My previous background included working for 15 years as a headteacher and for 3 years as a School Improvement Manager – all on the Isle of Wight
Having spent my whole career in education I felt that, in retirement, it was opportune to give something back to schools. It is therefore with great pride that I am able to offer support and challenge to the school and the community in which my wife and I reside.
As an effective governing body we look to maximise the potential of every child and provide a safe and caring environment.
